Level X (Year 2)

My son had never done a CAT4 assessment before, so we wanted him to become familiar with the question styles. The Level X practice was exactly what he needed. The visual activities were fun, the difficulty increased gradually, and by test day he felt relaxed instead of nervous. It gave him a great start.

Level X (Year 2)

We practised for about ten days before the assessment. My daughter especially loved the picture and pattern questions, and I noticed her confidence growing every evening. The real CAT4 didn't surprise her because she already knew what to expect.

Level Y (Year 3)

The Level Y questions challenged my son without making him feel overwhelmed. Every practice session introduced something slightly different, so he learned to think through problems rather than memorise answers. That made a real difference during his school assessment.

Level Y (Year 3)

I was impressed by how many different question styles were included. My daughter became much quicker at recognising patterns and relationships. She came home after the CAT4 saying it felt very similar to the practice she had already completed.

Level A (Year 4)

The timed mock tests were probably the biggest help. My daughter already understood the questions, but practising under time limits improved her speed and confidence. She finished the real assessment with time to spare.

Level A (Year 4)

My son found number patterns difficult at first. After working through the explanations and practising every day, it became one of his strongest areas. The answer explanations were easy enough for both of us to understand.

Level B (Year 5)

There was so much more variety than I expected. Instead of repeating similar questions, every practice session introduced fresh reasoning problems. My daughter stayed interested throughout and was much more confident before her school test.

Level B (Year 5)

The practice exams really felt like sitting a proper assessment. My son learned how to manage his time and stay focused for the entire test. On the actual CAT4 day, he wasn't anxious because the format already felt familiar.

Level B (Year 5)

We tried a few free CAT4 resources online first, but these questions were far more realistic. The quality was excellent, and there was enough practice to keep my daughter improving without becoming bored.

Level C (Year 6)

The Level C package covered every reasoning skill my daughter needed. She improved noticeably with non-verbal reasoning and spatial questions, and she said many of the question layouts in the real CAT4 looked very familiar. That gave her a huge confidence boost.

Level C (Year 6)

My son wasn't struggling academically, but he had never seen CAT4-style reasoning questions before. These practice tests taught him how to approach each question logically instead of guessing. His confidence improved every week, and he felt prepared on the day.

Level C (Year 6)

What I liked most was the range of question types. Just when my daughter became comfortable with one style, a different type appeared. It kept her thinking and prevented her from simply memorising patterns. Excellent preparation.

Level D (Year 7)

The Level D practice was far more challenging than anything we had found elsewhere, which turned out to be a good thing. By the time my daughter sat the real CAT4, she said it actually felt easier than some of the mock tests.

Level D (Year 7)

My son improved the most in verbal reasoning. At first he found analogies and word relationships confusing, but after working through the explanations, he became much quicker and more accurate. The progress was obvious.

Level D (Year 7)

We used the practice for about three weeks before the assessment. The timed quizzes helped my daughter stay focused, and the instant feedback showed exactly where she needed more work. She walked into the CAT4 feeling genuinely confident.

Level E (Year 8)

The Level E questions really made my son think. Instead of just answering questions, he started explaining his reasoning out loud, which showed us how much his logical thinking had improved. The practice definitely paid off.

Level E (Year 8)

I appreciated that the questions became progressively harder. My daughter never felt overwhelmed, but she was always challenged enough to keep improving. The mock tests were especially useful for building speed and accuracy.

Level F (Year 9–10)

This was exactly the type of preparation we were looking for. The questions required genuine reasoning rather than school knowledge, and my son quickly became familiar with the different CAT4 formats. He came out of the assessment feeling very positive.

Level F (Year 9–10)

The explanations were one of the biggest strengths. Whenever my daughter answered incorrectly, she could immediately understand why. That helped her avoid making the same mistakes again and steadily improve her scores.

Level G (Year 11+)

My son was preparing for selective entry and wanted extra reasoning practice before his CAT4 assessment. These mock tests were realistic, well organised and covered every question style we encountered. They gave him the confidence to perform at his best.

Level G (Year 11+)

We started practising about a month before the CAT4 assessment, completing a few tests each week. My daughter became much faster at identifying patterns and solving reasoning questions under time pressure. She came home saying the real CAT4 felt very familiar, which was exactly what we had hoped for.

Level E (Year 8)

My son enjoys Maths but found abstract reasoning difficult at first. These practice questions taught him how to break problems into smaller steps instead of rushing. His confidence grew with every mock test, and he finished the assessment feeling very happy with his performance.

Level F (Year 9–10)

The quality of the questions really stood out. They weren't repetitive and covered every type of reasoning we expected. My daughter especially benefited from the timed mock exams because they helped her stay calm and manage the pace during the real CAT4.

Level B (Year 5)

My daughter looked forward to practising each evening because every quiz was different. We could easily see which areas needed more work, and her scores steadily improved. She walked into her CAT4 assessment feeling confident instead of anxious.

Level A (Year 4)

I wasn't expecting such a noticeable improvement in such a short time. Within two weeks, my son was recognising question patterns much more quickly and explaining his thinking with confidence. The practice made the real CAT4 feel like another mock test, and that took away a lot of the pressure.

Every CAT4 level includes realistic mock tests that simulate the real testing experience.

Students can complete timed tests, review their answers and identify strengths and areas requiring improvement before the actual CAT4 assessment.

CAT4 is not a traditional school exam.
Instead of testing curriculum knowledge, it measures reasoning ability and learning potential through a series of carefully designed cognitive reasoning questions.
This helps schools better understand how students learn.

CAT4 is widely used by independent schools, grammar schools, academies and international schools across the UK and many other countries.
Schools use CAT4 to support admissions, identify learning strengths and guide educational planning.

CAT4 assesses students in four key reasoning areas:

  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Quantitative Reasoning
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning
  • Spatial Reasoning

Together these provide schools with a comprehensive picture of a student’s reasoning strengths.

Our CAT4 practice questions cover every reasoning battery for all CAT4 levels.
